Probably some of you know
that worms can enter the body through food and to stay there for a long time,
thus causing various health problems. These parasites can also penetrate into
the brain and cause more serious health problems.
Dr. Effrossyni and Gkrania-Klotsas examined the head of a
man who had a tapeworm inside. Namely, the man began feeling frequent headaches
and seizures. When he was examined in the Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge,
he was diagnosed with an infection known as sparganosis-a parasitic infection
caused by the tapeworm larvae plerocercoid diphyllobothroid. Unfortunately, he
had to undergo a surgical procedure.
It was also found, that
there are three types of worms that can attack the brain and they usually enter
the body through consumption of undercooked pork. You can also get infected if
you are in direct contact with animals that have this parasite. They cause
infection can cause epilepsy and it is known as neurocysticercosis.
This usually occurs in
Latin America, Africa and China;
however, since pork is distributed throughout the world, no one is safe.
There are certain medications that can cure the infection, but the operation is
more promising treatment.
